Unsure about The "new" X-Files

As for XF, I think we are watching a new show emerge. The opening credits were interesting. I never understood the "falling Mulder" in the opening, and I really hated that when DD was on the show, his name was first in the credits. Seems there is new music, but it seems to slickly produced - doesn't seem to be as creepy as before.

The Scully & Mulder show is no more. I've even read that Scully will be assigned to be the forensic examiner at the FBI academy (or something like that) so she won't even be involved with the FBI's X-Files anymore, not directly. Sounds like they are trying to get us used to her not being around anymore.

As for the plot, this whole Super Soldier conspiracy sounds so lame. I hope it is just misdirection, because it just sounds weak. I was really suprised that they resolved the Samantha storyline as early as they did (I recall CC saying they won't resolve it until the very last episode - oops, guess not). I like the aliens, I love the old conspiracy. But I guess to keep it fresh and new, we need new enemies.

Was good to see the Exposition boys again, AKA the Lone Gunmen. It was nice to see them touch on their failed series, would be nice to hear how the cliffhanger would have been resovled.

Scully's baby was not really doing it for me. Creepy babies, I dunno, to me, I don't like it. Creepy 6 year olds, now that freaks me out.

Mulder was in the shower and had packed his bags. He's in hiding. Skinner wants our new XF team to drop the investigation into Kersh. Sorry but neither of these sound very in character. Mulder has never been one to run from things, rather he ran *to* them. Skinner who now is a believer, suddenly is scared of them, scared for the baby. If Mulder was scared for the baby, and Skinner was scared for the baby and Scully was too, WTH didn't they take the baby into hiding? That makes no sense!

Guess we have to buy the whole concept. Maybe they will make it better.

It was good to see Lucy Lawless, she has really penetrating eyes. I don't get the whole Aqua-Girl thing, but then again, I still don't get aliens with no mouths or eyes.

It isn't appointment television anymore, no longer is it must-see TV. What I'd like, jettison Gillian and just do Scully and Mulder movies, leave the TV show to the new team - that'd be fine by me. Leaving Scully in it now is just odd. Either she should be Doggett's partner or be gone. The phrase "third wheel" comes to mind.

They have one more season to either get it right or wrap it up. Right now, I don't care which one it is.
